About the Club
The Oregon Scale Squadron (OSS) started originally as a dedicated group of scale model airplane enthusiasts, building and flying exact scale replicas of full size flying aircraft. Over the years however, we have morphed into a group of men, women and young people that welcomes all types of flying objects. We fly scale kit built up planes, scale ARF foam planes, drop parachutes and nerf bombs, fly home designed foam and balsa wood planes, sailplanes, hand thrown foam & balsa planes, kites and even ..yes ..even helicopters.
We are dedicated to having fun, preserving the past for the future in miniature aircraft and advancing the love of the hobby to people of all ages and most of all…doing it safely.
About Us
The Oregon Scale Squadron(OSS) is a group of about thirty-five enthusiastic model flyers. Our members are "as old as Moses and as young as ten". We come from all walks of life and from all around the world. We have an individual that flew P-40’s with Chennault’s Flying Tigers, in China during WW2 down to youngsters as young as 10 years old. Many of our members are also full scale pilots and instructors. Everyone is welcome. We have a passion for assisting each other and learning the science of aerodynamics.
We are a registered club (#2092) in District XI of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). Our club was founded in 1984.
At the present time, our field has been closed due to new building construction. We are looking for a new field at this time.
When we reconvene at the new field, we plan flight tables to accommodate 8-15 pilots. We allow up to four planes in the air at the same time and fixed wing and helicopters take turns. Equal opportunity for all regardless of the flying skills. Our field operating rules will be posted at the field on the radio frequency board.
You may use our field as a visitor for 3 or 4 visits as long as there are club members present, our liability insurance will cover you for the introductory period.
If you decide you would like to join our Air-Wing, then you can make application to join our club.
